Do’s And Don't’s

Thinking About a New Lightscape? Here's What to Know

Deciding to install a beautifully designed lightscape in your outdoor space is the first step on your path to a bright new outlook! Here are a few do's and don't's to consider before, during and after your installation:

  • DO use high-quality materials for your outdoor lighting fixtures. This is something your lighting professionals can discuss with you before getting started. You want to select a contractor who uses brass or copper fixtures, which are built to last in Florida's hot, sunny environment.
  • DON'T use your current landscaper to install or maintain your lightscape. Landscapers, handymen, electricians and irrigation specialists do wonderful work in their respective roles - but they lack the necessary know-how when it comes to considerations specific to outdoor lighting (such as voltage drop, proper placement and fixtures, wattage and beam spread, to name a few) and aren't trained to hone their "eye for design" in the same way that a designated outdoor lighting professional is.
  • DO ask your contractor about a lighting demo! We will be happy to schedule a demo so that you can see your landscape goals come to light in real time.
